Objectives: The course gives the student an introduction to innovation and business creation in start-up and pre-business situations. The course relies on opportunity recognition, a theory based on entrepreneurship, giving an understanding of the process of identifying, exploring, and developing an entrepreneurial opportunity that best leverages the student’s experience, interests, passions and networks. Another well-known entrepreneurial approach, effectuation, is introduced to further familiarise the student with opportunity identification, decision-making in uncertain situations and new venture creation. To conclude, the course gives the student understanding on how modern businesses start and operate.

Teaching methods: Mentored work on the virtual learning platform (interactive assignments), written case assignment and a final case study.

Further information: In order to be able to study the module, the student doesn’t need to have any prior knowledge on innovation or on entrepreneurship.
