The students become familiar with the concepts of region, regionalization, regionalism and region-building from historical, political, geographical, economic and cultural perspectives. They understand how a region is formed and learn about different ways of defining a region. They will know the central features and particularities of the Baltic Sea Region, its countries and peoples, and understand the unique historical trajectory behind the region's development. They will also gain an insight on the current state of the region and the most topical challenges it faces.
