The course will introduce the most important international IP treaties. The core principles of the international IP system will be elaborated and the enforcement system of the TRIPS Agreement. Moreover, the most important European harmonization and unification measures will be covered, as well as the remaining differences in protection and the underlying ideologies. The relationship of intellectual property rights to the basic EU freedoms, competition law and fundamental rights protection are also to be discussed.
