Lectures deal with the rapid synthesis of carbon-11, oxygen-15, fluorine-18, and radiometal-containing radiopharmaceuticals. The use of intelligent control of automated systems through various transducers interfaced to the chemistries is a central theme in the course. Exercises will include real-life demonstrations of both automated and remote controlled manipulations of carbon-11 and fluorine-18 labelled radiosynthetic precursors and radiolabelling procedures including chromatographic separations. These demonstrations will be carried out at various laboratories of the Turku PET Centre.
