Studies of European integration exploit a variety of theoretical approaches seeking to explain integration, to analyse governance, to conceptualise integration and governance, or to gain understanding of how integration has changed Europe.

This course focuses on main theoretical approaches of European integration studies and their development since the early 1950s., e.g. federalism, functionalism, neofunctionalism, intergovernmentalism and selected IR theories.
