Many problems in physics and engineering, but also, for example, biology, and other fields are modeled using partial differential equations. Waves motion and forest management are some examples of these applications. In this course, an introduction to the theory of the first and second-order equations is presented. The focus is on specific methods showing how to solve the partial differential equations, but it is also accompanied by the analytical theory of PDEs. In the end, a brief overview of numerical solution methods is given.
