The course introduces the basic knowledge for the interpretation of UV, MS and MS/MS spectra. Every student characterises a range of bioactive compounds by their UV and mass spectra as accurately as possible. This work is supported by the practicals in Moodle. All results are gone through in demonstrations where students show and explain their characterisation results. In addition, UPLC-MS/MS instruments (triple quadrupole and quadrupole-orbitrap) are utilised in order to learn to use different tandem modes and measure different MS/MS spectra.
