Objectives

Have you considered how power might manifest itself in and through law and, more interestingly what kind of opportunities are available for revealing its workings? Do you want to develop your critical thinking skills considering both national and international law and to practice your English skills in legal writing and argumentation?
This course introduces you to different theories, methods and methodologies legal sciences since the 1960's postmodern turn and engages with the emerging posthuman/new materlalist turn in sciences since the 1990's. During the course you will learn how to effectively challenge the binary understanding of categories such as public/private, nature/culture, male/female and so forth. Furthermore, the aim of the course is to connect these “abstract-sounding” theoretical terms with historical events and developments as well as physical matter.
