Objectives

The students

- are familiar with the value base and regulatory base for the special needs pedagogy and teaching branch and are able to use the key concepts of this branch of science
- are familiar with the regulations on supporting children’s growth, learning, schooling and pupil welfare in early childhood education, childhood education and elementary education at the primary school
- are able to examine and assess the challenges related to the welfare, growth, development and learning of children from the perspective of individual and environmental factors and interaction and are capable of taking them into account in their own teaching and educational tasks
- are able to analyse the principles of an inclusive learner community
- are able to describe and analyse the key features of family-oriented co-operation and to recognise a teacher’s role in the network of multiprofessional co-operation.
