Objectives

The aim of the study module is that students can describe pathophysiological disease mechanisms, diagnostic methods and biomarkers as well as clinical symptoms of selected diseases in main therapy areas. Students master the mechanisms of action of currently used drugs and are able to critically assess their utility in the treatment of these diseases and identify existing unmet medical needs.
Students can explain how animal disease models are produced and employed in the development of new drugs and how translational medicine approaches are used to facilitate the entry of drug candidates into clinical development. Students will use databases to evaluate the ongoing clinical trials with novel mechanism of action.
Students will develop skills that facilitate their ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others.
