Objectives

After passing the course the student
• knows the theory and practice of several preparative and quantitative analytical tools commonly used in microbial metabolic engineering
• has practical experience on culturing, transforming and analyzing photosynthetic cyanobacteria
• has experience in the use of E. coli as an engineering tool in construct assembly
• has deeper understanding on the methods used in metabolic engineering, and is able to combine theoretical knowledge and practical know-how in construct design and trouble-shooting
• is capable of interpreting the data acquired from the practical work, and presenting the results in written publication-style format.
