Objectives

After completing the course, the student is able to:
- Understand how human nutritional biochemistry influences prevention and treatment of diseases.
- Evaluate the research methods used in nutrition research.
- Plan and conduct nutritional research.
- Evaluate food products from the perspective of their functional properties related to health
- Understand the scientific evidence and evaluation process behind the approved health claims.
- Evaluate the evidence and possible potential behind bioactive ingredients of foods in which official health claims cannot currently be made.
- Describe the application procedure for health claims.
