Objectives

The course will teach the students what is fluorescence as a physical phenomenon and how it is utilized in various applications such as microscopy, cytometry, and anisotropy. Through introductory and expert lectures, the student will be familiarized with the theoretical basis and practical aspects of fluorescence applications. On completion of the course, the student will be able to:

• Explain what fluorescence is and how it is produced.
• Identify how fluorescence is implemented in different applications.
• Compare different fluorescent labels, explain their differences, and explain how to use them in various fluorescence applications.
