Intermediate Chinese II (Spring 2025) builds on the foundation established in Intermediate Chinese I, guiding students toward proficiency at the B1 level on the CEFR scale. This course focuses on improving students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through a combination of flipped learning and task-based activities.

In this course, students will:

  • Explore topics such as Chinese holidays, cultural changes, environmental issues, and global interconnectivity.
  • Develop the ability to discuss abstract concepts, present opinions, and narrate experiences confidently.
  • Engage with authentic materials and real-life scenarios to enhance their language proficiency.
  • Participate in interactive class activities, including role plays, discussions, and presentations.

The course is structured to promote active learning, with:

  • Pre-class preparation: Vocabulary and grammar quizzes based on provided materials.
  • In-class activities: Speaking, listening, and comprehension tasks.
  • Post-class assignments: Handwritten exercises to reinforce learning.

By the end of the semester, students will have a deeper understanding of Mandarin Chinese, as well as the skills needed to apply it in academic, professional, and personal contexts.
