During the course the concepts of place, place attachment, sense of place, place identity, and place-based values will be presented. Alongside, approaches to place-making will be discussed. In the second part of the course, an offline workshop will take place, where students of the course will create their visionary place-making concepts of different time, space and community scales for the Viikkari area of Pori (with possibility to address other areas in the city they are deeply involved with). The Viikkari case will be presented by the lecturer based on the results of the WoodiSH project (https://www.woodish-project.com/), supported by the Nordic Biodiversity Group of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The WoodiSH project is dedicated to the circular lifestyles of the wooden housing areas in the cities.
