Objectives
After passing the course, the doctoral researcher will learn about cutting-edge and smart technologies in mechanical engineering, as well as their roles in the industry. They learn also about the theoretical/scientific basis and the state of the art of modern mechanical and manufacturing technologies. Students are be able to compare conventional mechanical and manufacturing technologies with their advanced counterparts, as well as learn about their pros and cons depending on the application. Goal is also that students understand the fundamentals of mechanical design for parts produced by advanced manufacturing, and are familiar with the sustainability issues related to the advanced mechanical and manufacturing technologies. Aim is that students are also familiar with the opportunities of advanced mechanical manufacturing technologies in product development and production from a business point of view.
