Objectives

After completing the course, the student will have the necessary skills to work in a medical device development project. The student will understand the architecture of a medical embedded system including the most common interfacing protocols, sensing modalities and peripherals. You will learn how to interface between the physical world using sensors and microcontrollers. At the end of the course you will be able to build simple medical embedded sensor systems that include sensors, microcontrollers, embedded firmware and wireless communications capabilities. The student will also be able to take power constraint into consideration.
