The students are expected to gain an overall understanding of the development of the European Union and its legal order, of its structure, institutions and sources of law, and of the relationship between EU law and national law. The students are also expected to develop an understanding of the status of fundamental rights in the EU legal order, and of the problems associated with it, of the role of the European Court of Justice, and of the main features of and trends in the law of the internal market. The students are expected to develop a basic ability to apply EU law, and to analyse and evaluate it critically. Additionally, the ability of the students to put forward written legal arguments, as well as to engage with English language legal materials and to express legal information in English will be developed further.
