Objectives
After completing the course, students will understand the basic properties of longitudinal and cross-sectional multilevel/hierarchical data. They will be able to link real-world research problems and questions to complex data and understand which type of statistical methods are needed to answer these questions. Specifically, students will:
- Understand hierarchical data structures, encompassing both longitudinal and cross-sectional formats.
- Recognize the necessity for specialized statistical methods in handling these types of data.
- Differentiate between cross-sectional and longitudinal research inquiries, supported by examples drawn from relevant literature.
- Make well-informed decisions regarding the selection of further advanced methods courses.
