Objectives

This course is oriented towards practical skills necessary in future legal education and working life in a globalized world.

At the end of this course students should

- be sensitized to variety of approaches to similar legal questions,
- be able to explore alternative ways to think legally-right,
- be able to identify general features of selected legal cultures, which allows to avoid misinterpretation of foreign law and its application,
- be able to use selected concepts of comparative law and macro-comparison in their studies and research,
- be able to differentiate between methods of comparative legal research,
- gain extended perspective on law as social and cultural phenomena.

In addition, by the end of the course, the students are expected to acquire following working life skills:
- effective communication in multicultural environment,
- critical reading and understanding of scientific texts,
- strategic thinking i.e. drawing conclusions from observations and argument building,
- extended thinking i.e making connections between related concepts.
