Objectives

During this lecture series, participants will effectively assess seemingly common-sensical and objective statements to create their own arguments to compare and contrast different kinds of visual and textual source materials related to gender, health and society in British India and beyond. Participants will be able to understand and evaluate why and how gender serves as one of the most important analytical categories in transnational histories of family, community, nation and empire. They will be able to explain intersecting narratives of Orientalism, Colonialism, Nationalism, Feminism, Postcolonialism and Decoloniality.
