Objectives

This course belongs to the curriculum of the Master's Degree Programme in Futures Studies as an obligatory course. While practicing how to critically evaluate and compare futures research cases, students also learn how to give and to receive constructive feedback from peers. This process is an introduction to the scientific peer-review process. Students learn how to analyse the logic, structure, and process of scientific research on a specific content, and understand the dynamic character of research processes at the Finland Futures Research Centre.

Students will be able to distinguish different evaluation frameworks. Students learn how to work as a team in the evaluation process, how communicate as a team the results of their work researchers of evaluated cases, and plan and evaluate their own team working.

The course instructs students in following generic working life skills: critical thinking, evaluation of information sources, justification, interaction skills, self-regulation, and writing.

The course teaches following futures skills: critical thinking, creative thinking, reflection.
