The course proceeds from the nation-based beginnings and institutional foundations of the field in the United States to recent approaches of studying North American Studies from transnational perspectives. The course demonstrates the ways in which North American Studies reacts to and changes alongside historical shifts and how the field continuously re-evaluates, redefines, and reinvents itself.
