During the course, the student practices especially Finnish language communication skills. They practice pronunciation, grammatical structures, reading, listening and speaking. They work in pairs and small groups, also using digital platforms. During the course, they do homework to support their language learning and the development of their study skills. They will also write some short texts.
Themes: greetings, introducing oneself, countries, languages and nationalities, numbers, the seasons and weather, months and days of the week, expressing time, common adjectives, family and relatives, describing things and people, food and eating, shopping
Structures: vowel harmony, making questions and responding to them, possessive structure, singular genetive and partitive, verb types, use of the most common local cases, consonant gradation
