Objectives

By the end of this seminar, students will be able to:

- Analyze the formation and evolution of modern nation-states in the Arab world using theoretical frameworks from political science and sociology.

- Evaluate the complex relationships between state institutions and non-state actors (tribes, religious institutions, minorities)

- Assess the historical roots of inter-Arab and sectarian conflicts.

- Apply interdisciplinary methodologies to examine political and social transformations in the Arab region.

- Analyze the causes and outcomes of the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings.
