In this course, the student obtains an overview of psychometrics and the application of its methods, and thereby gains an understanding of the role of a statistician, data analyst, or applied researcher as part of a research team working in learning analytics, educational sciences, or psychology. The student becomes familiar with modeling psychometric data, theories of learning assessment, and the role of the researcher in research design, data collection, analysis, and the reporting of results. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will master the basic concepts of psychometric research and will be able to apply essential psychometric methods to real-world research data.
