The course aims to give an introduction to medieval and early modern history of the Baltic Sea Region through series of case studies around the theme of “Co-operation and Conflict". No previous medieval studies are required from the participants. Learning outcome is the knowledge of the basic concepts and themes of the medieval and early modern studies and early history of the Baltic Sea Region. Participants will also learn the historical aspects of concepts like “local", “regional" or “inter-regional" through examples of medieval and early modern contacts between and outside of various parts of the Baltic Sea Region.
