This short course explores Buddhism's relationship to the tensions and synergies of mind and matter. How does Buddhism reconcile such dichotomies as body and mind, form and emptiness, appearance and illusion? How have attitudes towards mind and matter changed over the 2500 year history of Buddhism, philosophically and practically speaking? What is the importance of art as a point of intersection between these two? How are mental and material used as supports in Buddhist practice and soteriology?
