The course focuses on improving and extending a wide range of communication skills in business and teamwork contexts. The task-based learning methods are designed to improve language skills, as well as key metaskills such as preparation, teamwork and responsibility.
The key concepts are flexibility and credibility. In the tasks we consider strategies to minimize risk and increase the chance for success, in contexts varying from job applications to press conferences. Key topic areas are recruiting, corporate social responsibility and business meetings.
In this experimental new version of EN1b, students' progress is in their own hands. Proper preparation and communication between classes can see you through threshold tasks quickly, allowing you to qualify for the final exam before the course is over.Demos focus on practicing writing (applications, CSR reports) and speaking (meetings, press conference).
The themes for the course are credibility and flexibility in communication.
