The course covers several streams of research that have addressed the intersection between organizations’ strategic development in different types of environments. These streams include actor-driven, innovation-related and institutional approaches to organizations and their strategic change. These streams differ both with respect to their basic presumptions on the inherent nature of organizations and whether they emphasize the organizations’ opportunities to strategically exploit their environments or necessity to accommodate to the conditions defined by these environments. This way the course also offers several conceptual lenses for those students who are in the opening stages of their Master's Theses and who are especially interested in the strategic management of organizations in different environmental settings.
The objective of the course is that the participants become autonomous users of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Mplus software. Some advanced SEM-methodology is covered, like mixture and multilevel models. In the workshops the examplary data is used together, however the participants are recommended to work out and try similar modeling options with their own data set if suitable. One aim of the course is to produce preliminary research outcomes suitable for scientific publication. Basic knowledge of Structural Equation Modeling (for example course SEM1) and Mplus software is required.
