Research Seminar course description
Active participation in different research seminars is an essential part of doctoral studies. Active participation equals annual presentation in a research seminar and commenting and discussing seminar presentations.
Doctoral candidates majoring in International Business are required to complete at least 2 credits from the research seminar course, the maximum of credits awarded being 4.
International Business doctoral candidates are expected to
- participate, present and comment in doctoral seminars regularly and actively (research seminars in International Business and other disciplines at TSE) and follow and report at least three public defences of doctoral dissertations organized in Finnish universities to earn 1 ECTS credit. (1-2 ECTS credits of which completing at least 1 credit is compulsory),
- present the progress of the dissertation research in a Midway seminar, which timing the student should discuss with the supervisor. Participation is strongly recommended for students close to the midway stage of their dissertation (1 ECTS credit), and
- participate as a presenter in national FIGSIB tutorials/seminars or international doctoral colloquiums (e.g. AIB, AIB UKI, EIBA) (1 ECTS credit).
