Objectives
During this course a set of current discussions and research perspectives on Finnish art from the late 19th century up to the present day will be introduced and scrutinized. We will focus on a few nodal points and concrete examples inspired by recent research or exhibitions of Finnish art and/or architecture and design. The construction of cultural self-understanding, including the role of transcultural dialogues, will be highlighted. The course will provide the student with topical outlooks on Finnish culture from the point of view of Art History.
